Beschreibung
Corduroy was never a soft fabric. It was a working fabric that learned how to look good indoors.
The wale is the whole story. Those fine vertical ridges are cut pile, and because they run with the body rather than across it, they draw a long line from shoulder to hem and hold a crease the way a heavier cloth would. This dress takes that structure and relaxes it: a straight cut through the body, a high waist that sits at the narrowest point, and a single row of buttons down the front that opens the dress like a coat.
The lapel collar is what separates it from every other corduroy dress on the shelf. A turn-down collar with a clean roll gives the neckline a finished edge, so it reads as a shirt dress rather than a pinafore, and it stays crisp whether you wear it buttoned to the throat or open over a fine knit. The placket is cut straight and the buttons are set close enough that the front does not gape when you sit.
Length runs 100 cm at S to 122 cm at XXL measured flat from the shoulder, which lands between the knee and mid-calf on most frames, and the loose fit through the body means it layers without strain. Nine colourways cover the useful range: navy and dark grey for the office, burgundy and maroon for the season, light grey and pink for daylight, orange and yellow for the people who do not want to blend in. The corduroy blend carries enough polyester to resist wrinkling on a long day and enough body to hang straight out of a bag.
A dress that behaves like a shirt and wears like a coat.

Sizing Chart
Length from shoulder to hem, measured flat: S 100 cm, M 104 cm, L 110 cm, XL 116 cm, XXL 122 cm. The cut is loose through the chest and hip, so the shoulder width is the measurement to check first. If your shoulder measurement falls between two sizes, take the smaller one for a shirt-dress line and the larger one if you plan to wear a sweater underneath.
Corduroy has almost no stretch in the wale direction and slight give across it. Wash cold and hang dry; heat is what flattens pile permanently and leaves the shine marks that make corduroy look old before its time.
The Long Season
This is a layering dress, which is why it works from October to March. Worn alone with boots it reads as a weekend uniform; belted at the waist with a heel it becomes something you can wear to a client meeting; opened over a roll-neck and trousers it functions as a light coat. It travels well because the pile does not crease the way a flat weave does, and it holds up to repeated wearing between washes, which is more than most midi dresses can claim.
Before You Order
Q: Does corduroy make it too warm indoors?
The pile is fine rather than chunky, so it insulates without the bulk of a heavy wale. Central heating is comfortable; a warm room is where you simply open the front a button or two.
Q: Will the button front gape?
The placket is cut straight with closely spaced buttons, and the body is loose rather than fitted, so there is no tension across the chest. If you are fuller through the bust, sizing up removes any risk.
Q: How do I keep the pile looking new?
Wash cold, inside out, and hang dry. Never tumble dry and never press the pile flat with a hot iron; steam from a distance instead. Brushing with the grain restores the nap.
Q: Is the collar stiff?
It is a soft turn-down collar with enough interfacing to hold a roll, not a structured shirt collar. It sits flat when open and closes cleanly at the top button.
Q: Which colour is most versatile?
Navy and dark grey cover office and evening. Burgundy is the strongest seasonal choice. Light grey photographs best, and the warmer tones, orange and yellow, are the ones people stop you about.
Q: Can I wear it in summer?
In cool climates and air-conditioned offices, yes. The fabric is all-season, but the long sleeve and the pile make it a cool-weather piece by instinct rather than by rule.
