the-equilibrium-arm-dual-monitor-laptop-mount
The Equilibrium Arm | Gas Spring Dual Monitor and Laptop Mount for 17-27 Inch Screens

Neck pain is usually described as a health problem and is more often a geometry problem. A laptop on a desk puts the top of the screen below eye level, so the head tilts down for eight hours and the shoulders round forward to meet it. The gas spring arm in this listing solves it at the source: the screen is lifted to eye height, pulled forward over the desk, and held there by a counterbalanced strut rather than by the neck.

The arm is built as a pair. The main mount carries a monitor between seventeen and twenty-seven inches weighing between two and nine kilograms on a VESA plate that accepts both 75 by 75 and 100 by 100 patterns, and it moves through full motion: up, down, forward, back, tilt and a full 360 degree rotation that turns the screen to portrait for documents and code. The second tier is a laptop tray for machines between ten and seventeen inches and between five and twenty-one millimetres thick, so a laptop can sit beside or below the monitor instead of competing for the same patch of desk.

The structure is die cast aluminium alloy with cold rolled steel at the load points, finished in white or matte charcoal, and the cables run inside the arm rather than down the back of the desk. Gas spring arms have a reputation for feeling immovable out of the box, and the honest answer is that the tension is set for the weight of the screen: fit the monitor first, then use the adjustment point that becomes accessible once the arm is under load. Once balanced, the screen moves with one hand and stays where it is put.

A screen at eye level is not a comfort upgrade. A trader, developer or designer running a laptop plus an external display gets both at eye level, with the laptop tray holding the laptop open as a second screen rather than a machine pushed to the side. In a home office built on a dining table, the arm turns a single surface into a two-level workstation and opens the desk underneath it for a keyboard and a notebook. In a clinic, a workshop office or a control room, the desk clamp means the mount can be fitted and removed without drilling, which matters in rented space and in environments where the furniture is not the building owner to decide about. The USB 3 variant adds a routed cable path to the same structure for anyone who wants one cable to the desk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will it hold my monitor?

A: The arm takes monitors from 17 to 27 inches weighing between 2 and 9 kg.
