説明

The round headlamp is the last honest piece of motorcycle design. It has one job and no software, and when it fails you can see the failure with your own eyes. This 7.5 inch unit replaces the sealed beam that came on the bike with a die-cast aluminium housing and a clear polycarbonate lens, running a 12 volt LED array at 20 watts on high beam, 15 on low, and 5 on the daytime running circuit.

The numbers that matter are 3200 lumens and 6500 kelvin. The first is roughly three times a halogen equivalent, and the second is the colour of daylight, which is why road markings and unlit shoulders appear faster at night than they do under a warm yellow beam. The cut-off is shaped for a reflector housing rather than a flood pattern, so the light lands on the road and not in the eyes of oncoming traffic.

Finned aluminium is not decoration. An LED that cannot shed heat loses output within minutes and dies within a season, and the housing on this unit is machined to move that heat into the passing air. Two sizes are available, 7.5 inch at 193 by 142 millimetres and 7 inch at 180 by 142 millimetres, so the same unit fits a cafe racer build and a factory round-bucket without an adapter ring. Wiring is a three-wire connection to the existing harness.

A headlamp is the only part on the bike that has to be right at the exact moment everything else goes wrong.

What Sets It Apart

  • ✦ 3200 lumens from a 20 W high beam, 15 W low, 5 W daytime circuit
  • ✦ 6500 K pure white output that reads like daylight on unlit roads
  • ✦ Die-cast aluminium housing with machined fins for real thermal path
  • ✦ Clear PC lens that resists stone strikes and UV clouding
  • ✦ 7.5 inch and 7 inch shells from one product line, both 142 mm tall
  • ✦ Three-wire 12 V connection into the original harness
  • ✦ Cafe racer geometry that suits round buckets without an adapter ring

Where It Belongs

Cafe racer and brat builds are the obvious home, where the round bucket is part of the visual language and a modern projector would break the line. Owners of older standards and cruisers use it to replace a sealed beam that no longer exists on a parts shelf. Adventure riders fit the 7 inch version to a round auxiliary bucket for a wide, cold-white fill under trees. Workshops keep one on the shelf because the three-wire connection means a retrofit takes an afternoon, not a wiring harness rebuild, and the aluminium housing survives a dropped bike better than a plastic shell does.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will it work on a six volt vintage bike?

A: No. The unit is specified for 12 volt DC systems. A six volt machine needs a conversion to 12 volts first, or a step-up regulator rated for the 20 watt draw.

Q: Is the beam pattern road legal?

A: The reflector is shaped with a cut-off for oncoming traffic, which is what most inspections look for. Local regulations vary, so confirm the requirement in your jurisdiction before relying on it for a roadworthiness test.

Q: How do I choose between 7 and 7.5 inch?

A: Measure the existing bucket opening. Both units share the same 142 mm depth, so the difference is the diameter of the rim and the visual weight on the front end.

Q: Does it need a relay?

A: At 20 watts the draw is low enough to run from the standard headlamp circuit on most machines. If the original harness is thin or corroded, fitting a relay is cheap insurance for consistent output.

Q: Will the lens yellow in sunlight?

A: The polycarbonate lens carries UV stabilisation for exactly this reason. It is the same class of material used on OEM lamp assemblies rather than the soft acrylic found on budget replacements.

Q: Can it be used as a daytime running light only?

A: Yes. The 5 watt circuit draws little enough to run continuously, and on many builds it is wired to the ignition so the bike is visible without the full beam.

Measure the bucket before ordering

Bought the 7 inch for a smaller bucket and it fits flush at 142mm depth. Beam is strong and the daytime circuit is bright enough to be seen. Wanted a warmer tint but 6500K is what is specified.

Aluminium housing is properly finned

Rode a three hour night route and the housing was warm rather than hot, which says the thermal path works. Three wire connection into the original harness took twenty minutes.

Light where there was none

Fitted the 7.5 inch to a cafe racer build and the difference over the old sealed beam is not subtle. 6500K white makes road markings appear much earlier, and the cut-off keeps it out of oncoming eyes.
