説明
A tractor cab in July, a horsebox on a motorway, an excavator seat that has been in the sun since morning. None of these vehicles left the factory with air conditioning, and retrofitting a system used to mean piecing it together from a salvage yard and hoping the fittings matched. This kit removes that gamble. It arrives as a complete system: evaporator, compressor, condenser, dryer, hose, fittings and every crimp ferrule needed to join them, boxed together and shipped as one order.
The evaporator is the heart of the retrofit. A 32-pass all-aluminium coil delivers roughly 13100 BTU of cooling capacity, moved by an 80W blower motor with a thermostat and a three-speed rotary switch on the case. A 1.3 or 1.5 ton O-ring expansion valve sits in front of it. The PP housing is built for cab interiors rather than car dashboards, which is why it mounts flat against a bulkhead in a van or a machine cab. A parallel flow condenser and a slim high-output radiator fan handle heat rejection, and the dryer includes a sight glass so you can confirm a clean charge at a glance.
Three compressor drives cover the mechanical side. The 2A and 2B versions use the SD-508 / SD-5H14 body with a 132mm clutch and a V-belt groove, the classic mounting for older engines. The 8PK version uses the 5H14 Sanden 508 pattern with an eight-groove serpentine pulley and a 125mm clutch for newer belt layouts. Refrigerant is R134a in every case, with 138cc displacement. Both 12V and 24V electrical systems are available, and the cool and heat evaporator adds a heater water hose so the same unit handles winter as well as summer. Note that the compressor ships without oil, so 150g of PAG oil must be added before the system is charged.
Hoses are cut to length in the kit, with three-layer protection and O-ring fittings sized #6, #8 and #10, plus a service port fitting. The hose runs 5 metres of #6, 3 metres of #8 and 5 metres of #10, and the cool and heat version adds 4 metres of 5/8 inch heater hose rated from -40 to 130 degrees Celsius.
Cool air is not a luxury in a machine cab. It is what keeps a full working day a full working day.

Where It Belongs
This kit is built for vehicles that were never offered with factory air: tractor and digger cabs, minibuses, horseboxes, campervan conversions, fridge trucks, forklifts and older vans used for long delivery routes. Restorers use it where the original system is beyond repair and correct parts no longer exist. Fleets use the same kit across mixed machinery because the compressor options cover both older V-belt engines and newer serpentine layouts, and the 24V option matches commercial vehicle electrical systems without a converter. Because the evaporator mounts flat rather than into a dashboard aperture, it also suits custom builds where there was never a factory location to begin with.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which compressor type do I need?
Choose 2A or 2B if your engine uses a V-belt drive, which covers most older diesel and petrol engines. Choose 8PK if the accessory drive uses a serpentine belt with eight grooves. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the existing belt and pulley arrangement and we will confirm.
Q: Is the compressor ready to charge?
No. The compressor ships without oil, which is standard for air conditioning components. Add 150g of PAG oil before evacuating and charging the system with R134a. Doing this protects the compressor warranty.
Q: Does the kit include everything needed for an install?
It includes the evaporator with bracket and remote control, condenser with fan and protector, dryer, compressor, hose set cut to length, all crimp ferrules, fitting sets including a service port, relays and relay sockets. You supply the PAG oil and the refrigerant charge.
Q: Can it heat as well as cool?
Select a cool and heat evaporator variant at checkout. That version adds a heater water hose set rated from -40 to 130 degrees Celsius, so the same blower case delivers warm air in winter.
Q: Will this work on a 24V truck or machine?
Yes. Both 12V and 24V versions are available. Confirm the vehicle voltage when ordering, since the blower and clutch components differ between the two.
Q: How is it shipped?
The kit ships in two cartons: one master carton containing four inner boxes with the major components and fittings, and a separate carton holding the hose lengths. Both arrive together as a single order.
