説明

Colour is not decoration. It is the last variable in a finished object, and the one most people hand over to a machine.

Most markers fail the same way. The tip floods at the start of a stroke, the ink sits on the surface instead of sinking into it, and by the third panel the barrel has started to dry out. That behaviour is fine for a shopping list. It is useless for a hand-painted sign, a decorated river stone or a guitar body you intend to keep. What separates a marker from a paint tool is chemistry and control, and both are decided long before the cap comes off.

This set uses an acrylic pigment base rather than a dye, which is why it holds on surfaces that normally reject ink. Stone, glass, ceramic tile, bare wood, canvas and primed metal all take the line and keep it, and once the pigment has cured the film is water resistant and UV stable rather than chalky. Each barrel is fitted with a brush tip for lettering and a chisel edge for fills, so shading and outlining happen with the same tool instead of two.

The sets are built around colour count rather than filler. Twelve gives you the primaries and a working neutral range, twenty four adds the mixed secondaries most craft projects actually need, and the larger cases run through the full spectrum including metallics and skin tones. Barrels are refillable in the sense that matters in practice: the cap seals against evaporation, so a set opened in March still writes in October, and the nibs can be pulled and swapped if a tip flattens after heavy use.

Nothing here is automated. That is the point. The hand still decides where the colour lands; the tool only has to obey.

Key Features

  • ✦ Dual-tip barrel a brush nib for lettering and a chisel edge for blocking in colour, one pen instead of two.
  • ✦ Acrylic pigment base bonds to stone, wood, glass, ceramic, canvas and primed metal without a separate primer.
  • ✦ Water resistant once cured the film sets hard and stays put through rain, washing and normal handling.
  • ✦ Lightfast pigment colour holds its tone instead of fading to a washed-out cast under window light.
  • ✦ Sealed, low-odour barrels the cap seats firmly, so a stored set does not dry out between projects.
  • ✦ Five set sizes 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 colour options so the palette matches the work, not the other way round.

Where It Belongs

This is the set for the person who paints objects rather than pictures on paper: river stones left in a public garden, a workshop sign lettered on sealed ply, decorated terracotta, gifts personalised in front of the recipient, model and prop detailing, and the kind of teaching table where six people need six palettes that will survive a term. Schools and hobby groups take the 24 and 36 colour cases because they cover mixed classes; single makers who work in one palette usually run the 12 and add a second case later rather than buying sixty colours they will never open.

Questions, Answered

Q. Do I need a primer first?

No on the materials that matter here. Bare wood, stone, glass, ceramic and primed metal all take the pigment directly. On raw steel or slick plastics, scuff first and a primer coat still helps.

Q. Will it run if the object gets wet?

Once the film has cured, usually 24 hours, it is water resistant rather than waterproof. A sealer is the right move for anything that lives outdoors or gets washed weekly.

Q. Are the tips replaceable?

The fibre nibs are pull-fit, so a flattened tip can be swapped rather than writing off the whole barrel.

Q. Is it safe around children?

It is a low-odour acrylic formulation, but treat it as a paint: ventilate the room, cover surfaces, and keep it away from children under three.

Q. Which set size should I start with?

Twelve colours if you work in one palette, twenty four if you mix and letter. The larger cases only make sense once you know you are running out of specific colours rather than options.

Q. Does the colour match the cap?

Yes. The barrel end and cap both carry the colour, which is why the set can stay usable after the box is emptied onto a work table.

Bought the 60 case for a class

I teach twelve students and needed enough colours that nobody waits. The 60 colour case covers the whole palette including skin tones and metallics, and the tips have survived a term of heavy use.

Great coverage, keep the caps seated

The colours layer well and mix on the surface if you work quickly. The only thing I would say is seat the caps properly after use, because a barrel left loose for a week stiffens at the tip.

One set replaced four old marker tins

Painted a workshop sign on sealed ply and a set of terracotta pots over one weekend. Nothing needed a primer, and the barrels have not dried out even though the case sat open for two days of work.

Pigment sinks into stone instead of sitting on top

Used the 24 colour case on river stones for a garden border and the colour has not chalked after a wet spring. The brush end is fine enough for lettering and the chisel edge covers a panel quickly, which is why I stopped buying two separate marker types.
