Dock Anchor 15W Mount
Phone mounts fail in two ways. The clamp version needs two hands and blocks the charging port; the adhesive version lets go on the first cold morning. This one solves both with a magnetic face rated to hold three and a half to five kilograms, mounted on a zinc alloy arm that folds flat when the car is parked. The phone stays where it is put, and the cable stops being part of the routine.
The charging side is deliberately modest in its claims. Fifteen watts on a compatible handset, stepping down to ten, seven and a half, or five as the device negotiates, with input over 5V/2A or 9V/2A from a QC or PD source. That last detail is the one most listings hide: a 15W figure assumes a charger that can actually deliver 9V, and a five-year-old USB port in a dashboard will not.
The hinge is the part that decides whether a mount survives a year. Zinc alloy rather than moulded plastic means the joint keeps its tension instead of loosening into a permanent droop, and the folding geometry lets the whole assembly sit within the dashboard line when not in use, which matters in a car where a windscreen sucker is either illegal or an eyesore.
A mount is not an accessory. It is the difference between a phone that is ready and a phone that is somewhere in the footwell.
What The Build Gets Right
- ✦ Magnetic hold rated 3.5 to 5kg, strong enough for a phone in a rugged case
- ✦ 15W wireless output, stepping to 10W, 7.5W and 5W per device negotiation
- ✦ Zinc alloy hinge and arm that holds tension instead of drooping
- ✦ Folds flat against the dashboard when not in use
- ✦ QC or PD input over 9V/2A for full output, 5V/2A for standard
- ✦ Fits handsets above 4.7 inches, including MagSafe-compatible models
- ✦ Vent and dashboard mounting without a permanent adhesive

Where It Earns Its Place
Ride-share and delivery drivers get the clearest benefit, because the phone is both the navigation screen and the payment terminal and a flat battery ends the shift. For everyone else the gain is quieter: a phone that arrives at the destination charged, a windscreen free of suction marks, and no cable fished out of the console at every stop. In a hire car, the folding arm packs into a bag rather than staying behind on the glass.
Questions Buyers Ask Before Ordering
Will it actually charge at 15W?
Only with a compatible handset and a QC or PD charger that supplies 9V/2A. With a standard 5V/2A port the output drops to 5W, which maintains a charge rather than adding to it. iPhone models that support 15W magnetic charging will negotiate the higher rate; older models settle lower.
Do I need a magnetic case?
For MagSafe-compatible phones, no case is needed. For other handsets the mount relies on a metal plate or a magnetic ring adhered to the case, and holding strength drops sharply with a thick or non-magnetic cover.
Does the magnet affect the phone?
No. Modern phones use flash storage, and a magnetic mount of this strength is not a risk to the device, its cameras or its compass calibration.
Will it hold on a rough road?
Yes, up to the rated weight. The magnet holds the phone and the zinc hinge holds the arm; the failure point on cheap mounts is the hinge, which is why it is metal here rather than moulded plastic.
Does it block the charging port?
No. The phone sits on the face rather than in a clamp, so the bottom edge stays clear and a cable can still be used if the phone needs a faster charge than wireless can deliver.
Is the cable included?
A USB-C cable is usually bundled, and the mount does not include the car power adapter. A QC or PD adapter is required for the full 15W output.
