説明

Water is the least interesting thing in most kitchens and the most studied thing in most laboratories. The H2 Spring sits between those two worlds: a 380ml bottle that dissolves hydrogen into drinking water at the press of a button, using the same solid polymer electrolysis stack found in clinical and beverage-industry equipment. You fill it, you press once, and for the next few minutes the water carries between 1000 and 4000 parts per billion of dissolved hydrogen, depending on the mineral content of what went in.

The engineering that matters is the separation. Cheap hydrogen bottles electrolyse water in a single chamber, which puts hydrogen, oxygen, ozone and chlorine into the same glass. This unit uses a dual-chamber SPE and PEM stack with a genuine DuPont NAFION 117 membrane, so only hydrogen crosses into the drinking chamber while oxygen, ozone and chlorine are vented away. The electrode is titanium with a platinum coating, which resists the corrosion that turns budget units cloudy within months. The difference between an N117 and the cheaper N324 membrane is not marketing: N324 leaks water into the gas path and makes the electrolysis unstable.

Daily use is deliberately unremarkable. The bottle holds 380ml, stands 210mm tall at 70mm diameter, and charges over USB, drawing 3.5W at 5V. It accepts pure water, mineral water and reverse-osmosis water alike, between 1 and 60 degrees Celsius, so there is no need to buy a specific brand of water to keep it working. A full cycle produces water at an oxidation-reduction potential of roughly minus 300 to minus 650 millivolts, the range associated with freshly dissolved hydrogen rather than with a bottled product that has been sitting on a shelf.

One cycle takes minutes and produces a glass or two. That is the honest shape of the habit: not a medical protocol, not a wellness ritual with a subscription attached, but a small piece of bench equipment that turns ordinary water into something with a measurable hydrogen load.

Hydrogen is the smallest molecule in the room. Keeping it in the water, and everything else out, is the whole craft.

Key Features

  • Dual-chamber SPE/PEM stack Hydrogen crosses into the drinking chamber while oxygen, ozone and chlorine are separated out and vented.
  • DuPont NAFION 117 membrane The thicker, more stable membrane grade, chosen over N324 because it does not leak water into the gas path.
  • Platinum-coated titanium electrode Resists corrosion and keeps output stable across hundreds of cycles.
  • 1000 to 4000 ppb dissolved hydrogen The actual concentration depends on the mineral content of the water you use, so harder water reads higher.
  • ORP of minus 300 to minus 650mV A measurable reducing potential, which is the practical indicator that hydrogen is still in solution.
  • USB rechargeable Charges from any 5V source at 3.5W, so a power bank covers a week away from a socket.
  • Works with any drinking water Pure, mineral and reverse-osmosis water are all supported, no proprietary cartridge required.
  • 380ml body A single fill covers a glass or two per cycle, sized to drink fresh rather than store.

Where It Belongs

This belongs on a desk, a bedside table or in a gym bag. It suits the person who already drinks two litres of water a day and wants that water to carry something more than hydration, and the person who has read the hydrogen literature and wants a device with a real membrane rather than a single-chamber toy. It is also a practical travel companion, since it charges from any USB port and does not need a supply of special water.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I know the hydrogen is actually in the water?

A: Dissolved hydrogen leaves solution quickly, so freshness is the indicator. Water straight off a cycle has a slightly silky mouthfeel and reads negative on an ORP meter. If you leave it in an open glass for an hour, most of the hydrogen has escaped and the reading returns toward neutral.

Q: Why does the concentration vary between 1000 and 4000 ppb?

A: Dissolved gas depends on the mineral content and temperature of the source water. Mineral-rich water holds more hydrogen, very soft or very cold water holds less. The device is doing the same work in both cases.

Q: Can I use tap water?

A: Yes, provided it is drinking quality. If your tap water is heavily chlorinated, the membrane has to separate more chlorine, which shortens the interval between cleaning cycles. Filtered water is easier on the stack.

Q: How often does it need cleaning?

A: Rinse the chamber after each cycle and run a descaling cycle with food-grade citric acid every two to four weeks depending on water hardness. The electrode should never be scrubbed with anything abrasive.

Q: Is it safe to drink immediately after the cycle?

A: Yes. The output is water with dissolved hydrogen, not a chemical additive. Venting the oxygen and ozone is exactly what makes it safe to drink straight away.

Q: Does it need a special water filter to work?

A: No proprietary cartridge is involved. Any drinking water works, and the device does not track or meter usage against a consumable.

Q: What is the difference between N117 and N324 membranes?

A: N117 is thicker and mechanically stronger under pressure, so it keeps the gas and water paths separate. N324 is thinner and cheaper, and in this application tends to leak water into the gas side, which destabilises the electrolysis and shortens electrode life.

The membrane is the reason to buy this

I had a single chamber bottle before and it put a chlorine smell in the water within a month. This one separates the gases properly, so there is no smell at all. The chamber wipes clean and the electrode still looks new after two months.

Needs mineral water for the higher numbers

The difference between filtered and mineral water is measurable with an ORP pen. With my RO water the reading sits at the low end of the range. Still works, just be realistic about the numbers and do not expect the maximum every time.

Tastes like water, not like a gadget

I was sceptical about the taste claims. It genuinely just tastes like water, slightly softer at the end of a cycle. Two cycles a morning and the bottle has become part of the routine. Charging over USB means the cable lives in a drawer, not on a special dock.
