The Quiet Watch is built to be installed once and then ignored.

The kit runs on Power over Ethernet, which is the detail that separates a ten-year installation from a maintenance treadmill. One cable per camera carries both power and video, so there is no separate mains run at each corner of the building, no local power brick cooking inside a soffit, and no eighteen-month replacement cycle when those bricks fail. An 8-channel NVR records locally at 5MP, which is the resolution where a face at six metres is still a face rather than a suggestion. Face detection is handled on the recorder, so a person approaching the gate is tagged as a person rather than triggering on the neighbour's cat.

The honest limitation is the same one every local-recording system shares: it protects the building, not the recorder, so it belongs on a shelf rather than on the floor beside the door. Homeowners covering a driveway, a side gate and a rear garden fit four cameras into an eight-channel recorder and keep the spare ports for the extension they will build later. Property managers standardise on PoE so maintenance is a cable swap rather than an electrician's visit. Tenants in a rented unit use the same kit without touching the structure, since every run is low-voltage.
