the-wayfarer-rinse-portable-camp-shower
The Wayfarer Rinse | 6000mAh Rechargeable Portable Camp Shower

Clean water at a campsite should not be a reward you earn at the end of the trail. It should be a button you press. Most camp washing is a compromise: cold water, lugged from a standpipe, in a container you then have to lift above your own head. The Wayfarer Rinse removes the lifting. A submerged pump drives water from any bucket through a two-metre hose to a shower head you simply hold.

The cell inside is rated at 6000mAh, which translates to roughly 120 minutes of continuous flow on a single charge, enough for several rinses before anyone needs to think about a socket. Charging runs over USB-C, so a phone adapter, a power bank, a laptop or a car port all work, and the port itself sits behind a sealed waterproof cover. The motor runs quietly, which matters when the same pump is supplying a shower at one moment and a children's bath at the next.

The detail that earns its keep is the display. Power remaining and water temperature are both shown on the unit before you commit to stepping under it, so the end of a charge or the chill of a morning bucket is visible in advance rather than discovered mid-rinse. Flow switches between a high and a low setting, so a quick wash does not have to become a soak, and the pump grips the base of the bucket to keep the intake below the surface. Pump, head and hose all fold into the supplied mesh organiser bag, which is small enough to disappear into a kit holdall.

It is not a bucket with a hose. Campers use it for a proper wash after a day on foot. Van owners use it as a permanent shower without installing a tank. Dog owners use it to rinse a muddy animal before it gets back into the car. Parents use it for a warm children's bath away from home. Gardeners and allotment holders use it for plant watering where a hose will not reach.
