Description

Water is the oldest solvent in the world and still the most misunderstood tool in the garage. Most people point a hose at a problem and hope. The dirt does not leave because the pressure was never aimed, never measured, never controlled. What separates a washed surface from a restored one is not effort; it is the discipline of pressure applied at the right angle, in the right volume, at the right moment.

The Cascade Nine exists for that discipline. It carries a brushless motor rated to 250 bar and a six-in-one outlet that changes the character of the stream without changing the tool in your hand, from a wide fan for a muddy wheel arch to a needle jet for the grout line behind a garden tap. The digital display reads the gear you are in, so the number on the screen matches the force leaving the nozzle. Four gears, a 7 litre-per-minute feed, and a five metre hose give you the range to work a whole driveway without moving the bucket.

Its body accepts 18V Makita B-series packs, which means the batteries already charging on your bench can run it. Two water paths are built in: draw from a tap, or self-prime from a bucket when there is no plumbing within reach. The stainless steel pre-filter is doubled, so grit stops before it reaches the pump instead of grinding through it, and that single decision is the difference between a season of use and a single afternoon.

Pressure is not violence. It is precision, and precision is what makes a surface new again.

Key Features

  • ✦250 bar peak pressure with a brushless motor that holds speed under load instead of fading mid-pass
  • ✦Four selectable gears plus a digital display, so pressure is read, not guessed
  • ✦Six-in-one rotating outlet: fan, jet, foam and angled patterns from one nozzle body
  • ✦Dual water supply: mains tap feed or self-priming draw from any bucket or barrel
  • ✦7 L/min flow rate for faster coverage on long driveways and fleet vehicles
  • ✦Double stainless steel filtration protects the pump from sand and grit
  • ✦18V Makita B-series battery compatibility, including BL1830, BL1840B, BL1850B

Where It Works

Detailers use it for the pre-wash pass, when the foam pot and the wide fan lift road film before a contact wash touches the paint. Farmers and gardeners use the self-priming draw to move water from a rain barrel to a fence line or a greenhouse bench where no hose reaches. Fleet and facilities teams keep one in the van because a single battery platform covers the whole tool bag, and a five metre hose covers a full van side without repositioning the unit. It is equally at home rinsing a mountain bike after a wet trail day, clearing moss from a stone patio, or blasting the silt out of a drainage channel before the rainy season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it need to be connected to a tap?

No. It runs two ways: fed from a garden tap or household outlet, or self-priming straight from a bucket, barrel or water butt. The self-priming mode is what makes it usable on sites, allotments and anywhere without plumbing.

Which batteries will it accept?

It is built around the 18V Makita B-series platform, including BL1830, BL1840, BL1840B, BL1850 and BL1850B. It is not compatible with G-series packs such as BL1813G or BL1413G, and not with 18V Ni-Cd batteries. A 2.0 Ah to 5.0 Ah pack is the recommended range.

What does 250 bar actually mean in practice?

It means the stream carries enough energy to strip caked mud, moss and dried road salt without a brush. In practice you will rarely use the top gear on paintwork; the four-gear control exists so you can drop to a gentle fan for bodywork and step up to a needle jet for stone and concrete.

Is the pump damaged by dirty water?

The inlet runs through a double stainless steel screen before the pump chamber, which stops grit and sand at the first stage. Rinse the filter after heavy use in sandy or silty conditions and the pump stays clean.

Can it draw from a rain barrel?

Yes. Self-priming mode lifts from any open container, which is why it is popular for rainwater harvesting, garden irrigation top-ups and washing down equipment far from a tap.

What is included with each variant?

Every variant ships with the gun, a bag, rotating nozzle, hose connector, water filter, foam pot and five metre hose. One-battery and two-battery variants add the pack count shown in the option name; the plug defaults to EU and adapters for US, UK and AU are available on request.

Strong, but the hose is the weak point

Pressure is exactly as described and the six-in-one nozzle saves swapping tips. Only complaint is the five metre hose - on a long driveway you are moving the bucket more than you would like. Bought an extension and it solved it. The machine itself has been faultless over six weeks of weekend use.

Self-priming mode is the real feature

No tap anywhere near the allotment, so I drop the hose in a water butt and it pulls without complaint. The pre-filter caught a surprising amount of grit the first time. Build feels solid in the hand, and the screen showing the gear is genuinely useful instead of decorative.

Replaced a corded washer and never looked back

I run it off the Makita packs I already own, which was the whole reason I bought it. Two batteries washed a full estate car and half a block-paved drive before either pack dropped a bar. The four gears matter more than the adverts suggest - gear one is gentle enough for the front wings, gear four took a season of moss off the patio.
