Description

Turkish coffee is not brewed. It is managed. The grounds go in cold, the heat rises slowly, and the foam that forms at the rim is the entire point of the exercise. A machine that heats too fast scorches the sugars and produces a bitter, flat cup. This 600W vessel is calibrated for the slow climb, which is why it belongs on a desk or a bedside table rather than in a rush.

The body is stainless steel and splits in two. The upper pot lifts free and can be drunk from directly, so a single vessel covers brewing and serving. That split is not a gimmick for travellers alone, it means one less item to wash and one less transfer where the foam collapses.

It holds 500ml, four to six small cups depending on how generous you pour, and it runs on 220 to 240 volts with a CE marking. The plug type is selectable at checkout in EU, UK and AU standards. It does not support 110V US current, and that is worth stating plainly before anyone orders for a North American kitchen.

The foam at the rim lasts about forty seconds. Everything about this pot is arranged around that window.

Design Decisions Worth Noticing

  • ✦600W element tuned for a gradual rise rather than a fast boil
  • ✦500ml capacity, four to six traditional small cups per fill
  • ✦Stainless steel housing that does not retain the taste of the previous brew
  • ✦Split design, the pot lifts free and doubles as the serving cup
  • ✦CE certified electrical assembly with 220 to 240 volt operation
  • ✦Plug type selectable in EU, UK and AU standards
  • ✦Compact 12 x 12 x 17cm body that fits narrow shelves

The Ritual It Serves

It suits the person who already owns a grinder and wants the Turkish method without a stovetop and a copper cezve. It also works for a hotel room, an office desk or a small apartment where a hob is shared or absent. Because the pot separates, the same object travels without a second cup, and the flat base sits stably on narrow surfaces. If you drink Greek or Armenian coffee at home, this replaces a saucepan and a guess about heat.

Practical Questions

Q: Can I use it for regular filter coffee?

A: It will heat water and produce a strong infusion, but the grind matters more than the machine. Turkish coffee needs a powder fineness, like flour. Coarse filter grind will not settle and you will drink grit. Use this as a Turkish and Greek brewer.

Q: Does the pot really work as a cup?

A: Yes. The upper section detaches and has a finished rim. Pouring straight from the pot you brewed in also preserves the foam layer, which is destroyed when coffee is transferred to a second vessel.

Q: How long does a 500ml fill take to heat?

A: At 600W, expect roughly four to six minutes from cold to a rising foam, depending on the starting water temperature. Slow is correct here. Faster heating scalds the coffee and flattens the foam.

Q: Is the inside of the pot coated?

A: The housing is stainless steel, not a non stick coating. There is no layer to flake or scratch, so metal spoons are not a problem. Wash by hand to keep the exterior finish bright.

Q: Will it work in the United States or Canada?

A: No. The unit is built for 220 to 240 volts and a 110V supply will not drive it correctly. Using a plug adapter alone does not change the voltage and is not a substitute for a converter.

Q: How do I clean it without damaging the element?

A: The pot separates from the base, so the pot can be washed normally. Never immerse the base or the heating element in water. Rinse grounds out while they are still wet and wipe the element surface dry.

Q: How fine should the coffee be ground?

A: Powder fine, closer to flour than to table salt. Turkish coffee is never filtered, so the grounds must settle into the bottom of the pot. If your grinder cannot reach that fineness, ask the roaster to grind for Turkish specifically, and use the coffee within a week because a powder that fine loses aroma quickly.

Q: Can I use it just to boil water for tea?

A: Yes, the element will bring 500ml to temperature without coffee in the pot. It is not a variable temperature kettle, so it climbs to a boil rather than stopping at a green tea setting. For Turkish coffee that behaviour is exactly what you want.

Q: How many servings does one fill give?

A: Four to six small cups in the traditional sense, which is closer to three espresso sized servings. If you pour large mugs the pot will give you two. Fill below the upper mark, because grounds and foam need headroom or the pot will overflow as it climbs.

Excellent for Greek coffee, check your plug before ordering

Ordered the EU plug and it fits my kitchen sockets without an adapter. The grind needs to be very fine or you get grit, which is a coffee problem rather than a machine problem. Heats in about five minutes from cold, which is the right speed for this method.

Bought the UK plug version and it works exactly as described

Six hundred watts heats slowly enough that the coffee does not scorch, which is the mistake my old kettle made. Stainless inside means no lingering taste from yesterday. The split design is genuinely useful for washing because the pot goes straight under the tap.

The foam survives because the pot is the cup

I have been making Turkish coffee on a gas hob for years and this is the first electric pot that gets the rise right. Pouring from the pot I brewed in means the foam does not collapse in a second vessel. Four to six small cups per fill is accurate if you pour properly.
