the-quiet-roll-3-inch-chair-caster-set
The Quiet Roll | Five-Piece 3-Inch Rubber Office Chair Caster Set

The cheapest upgrade to any office chair is the part touching the floor. Hard plastic casters grind across a wooden floor, catch on a rug edge, and announce every movement to the room. The Quiet Roll replaces them with a soft rubber twin wheel that rolls without marking the surface underneath and takes the noise out of a chair that is moved fifty times a day.

Each caster carries two wheels on a shared axle rather than one, and the split load is what keeps the pressure per contact point low enough for a natural wood floor, engineered board, tile or polished concrete. The frame is steel and the tyre is soft rubber, rated to 60 kilograms, and the stem is available in 10 millimetre and 11 millimetre diameters at roughly 22 millimetres long, which covers the standard sockets on almost every office chair base. Fitting is a push, not a rebuild. Pull the old caster, press the new one into the socket, and the chair is done.

The wheel measures 73 millimetres across, which is close to 3 inches, and the set contains five casters, enough for a standard five-star base. Because the mounting is universal and the stem sizes cover both common diameters, the same set fits executive chairs, drafting stools, filing cabinets and the mobile pedestals that share the same socket design.

Forty years of flooring outlasts a hundred sets of plastic wheels.

<hr style="margin: 20px 0;
