Description

One lens cannot watch a yard, a driveway and a side gate at the same time. The Twin Sentinel carries two, and that single decision is why it replaces what used to take three separate cameras and a switch box. The upper lens tracks a subject; the lower lens holds the wide field so nothing walks out of frame while the camera is busy following something else.

The sensor pair delivers 8 megapixels at a 3.6 mm focal length on a Sony CMOS chip, compressed in H.265 so the same TF card holds roughly twice the footage of an H.264 build. Colour night vision keeps detail in the frame after dark instead of dropping to black and white, and 20 metres of IR range covers a driveway or a rear boundary without a supplementary illuminator.

Pan runs a full 360 degrees and tilt travels from minus 10 to plus 180, which means the unit can look down over its own mounting point rather than straight past it. Two way audio is built in, so a courier hears you before they ring the bell. The housing carries an IP66 rating and an operating window of minus 10 to 60 degrees Celsius, and the 8 watt draw runs from a standard DC12V supply.

Motion is classified by the camera itself. Human detection filters out the cat, the hedge and the headlights so your phone receives alerts that correspond to a decision you might actually need to make.

Two lenses, one coverage map. Nothing crosses the boundary without being seen twice.

Where It Belongs

The Twin Sentinel suits a house with one entrance and one blind side, a rented unit where drilling five holes is not an option, or a shop yard that needs coverage during closing hours. Because it pans wider than a fixed bullet camera and holds a second lens on the wide field, a single unit covers ground that would otherwise need two. Buyers running a larger boundary typically start with one here and add units as they map the gaps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this a wireless camera?

It connects over WiFi so no video cable is required, but it does need mains power at the mounting point. The supplied adapter is DC12V and the unit draws 8 watts.

Q: What is the difference between the 8MP and 4MP options?

The 8MP version records at higher resolution for clearer identification at distance. The 4MP version costs less and is usually enough for a doorway or a short driveway where faces are within a few metres.

Q: Does it record in colour at night?

Yes, colour night vision is enabled by default. If you prefer a smaller file size you can usually switch to infrared black and white in the app.

Q: How much footage fits on a 128 GB card?

With H.265 compression and continuous recording, expect roughly two weeks of footage on a 128 GB card, longer if motion-only recording is enabled.

Q: Do I need a cloud subscription?

No. The camera records to a TF card and does not require a paid plan to keep footage. Cloud storage is optional if your app supports it.

Q: Can it be mounted upside down?

Yes. Tilt travels far enough to look down over its own mount, and the image can be rotated in the app when the unit is installed overhead.

Installed two more after the first week

Good image detail for reading number plates at the gate. Recording to a memory card keeps working without a subscription.

Solid build, watch the mount angle

The housing feels substantial and the IP66 rating is holding up through rain. Tilt stops short of pointing straight down, so plan the mount position rather than the angles.

Night image in colour is genuine

Not a gimmick. Motion on the path shows up in colour at night rather than grey. Setup on the app took about ten minutes.

Two lenses removed my only blind spot

I had one fixed camera covering the driveway and a gap on the side gate. The dual lens unit covers both in one view and the pan and tilt reaches the corner I could never see.
