A studio apartment is a bedroom and an office, a loft is a workshop and a dining room, and the boundary between those functions exists only in the furniture. The Folding Room draws that boundary in five panels of white polyester on an iron frame, standing 200cm tall and 250cm wide when opened, wide enough to close off a genuine work zone rather than hint at one.

The fabric is the part that decides whether a screen feels like architecture or like a bedsheet on a frame. This one is a 100 percent polyester weave with enough body to hang straight, and it filters light instead of blocking it, which is why a room behind it still reads as occupied space rather than a sealed box. Each panel measures 46.5 by 178cm, connected on folding hinges, so the screen opens into a shallow zigzag that stands without a wall fixing and folds flat when the room needs its square metres back.

The frame is iron, powder coated, with feet at the base of each panel. Assembly takes minutes with the manual supplied in the box, and the panels can be repositioned to shorten the span or wrap a corner. Use it to split a bedroom from a living area, to block direct sun at a window, to create a back wall behind a desk for video calls, or to hide a storage run without committing to a built in wardrobe.

A wall takes a permit.
