the-iron-witness-asecam-8mp-4k-ik10-dome-camera
The Iron Witness | ASECAM 8MP 4K IK10 Vandal-Proof Dome Camera, H.265 PoE

Most security footage is useless for the one thing it exists to do: identifying a face, a plate, or a badge at the distance the camera actually covers. A 2MP camera on a doorway is enough to prove something happened. It is rarely enough to prove who.

Eight megapixels at 4K changes that arithmetic. On a 2.8mm lens it covers a wide entrance with enough pixel density to read a face at the door; on the 3.6mm lens it narrows the field and reaches further down a driveway or a loading bay. The sensor is Sony CMOS with a minimum illumination of 0.001 lux at F1.2, which is why the image holds detail after dark instead of dissolving into noise the moment the streetlight dims.

The housing is the part most buyers underestimate. An aluminium alloy dome rated IK10 survives a hammer blow that would shatter a plastic camera and take the recording with it, and IP67 sealing handles rain, hose-downs and dust without fogging. IK10 is an impact rating, not an explosive-atmosphere certification, so this is a camera for hostile weather and hostile people rather than for hazardous gas zones.

Compression is H.265, which roughly halves the bitrate of an equivalent H.264 stream. In practice that decides whether a 4K camera is practical on your NVR: the same disk holds twice the retention, and the same PoE switch carries the stream without saturating the uplink. Power arrives over the same single cable, 48 to 55 volts PoE, with a DC12V 2A option for installations that already have local power.

ONVIF compliance means it does not have to live inside one vendor's app. It will record to a standard NVR, stream to a Synology or Blue Iris instance, and still support the P2P phone view when you want to check the driveway from an airport. Face detection runs on the camera rather than the recorder, so an alert fires even if nothing is recording at that moment.

Anyone can install a camera.
