Joints Do. A dog that once cleared a tailgate without a second thought will, at some point, stand in front of it and hesitate. That hesitation is not stubbornness - it is the arithmetic of a body that has begun to hurt, and it is the moment a car journey stops being a pleasure for both of you. The Summit Step is designed around that moment. It gives a large dog a gentle 18-degree climb into a car, SUV, truck bed or high bed, and it removes the lifted hips, the slipped paws and the argument at the boot.

The construction is deliberately light and deliberately strong. A high-grade aluminium frame carries a 250lb weight limit while weighing roughly 15 to 16 lbs, so it can be lifted out with one hand and positioned without a second person. The walking surface uses textured anti-slip grooves on diamond-plate material, and the side rails are widened and grippy, which is the part most ramps get wrong: rain, mud and wet paws are the normal condition, not the exception. Even an arthritic senior climbs with confidence, which is precisely the point.

What separates this ramp from the two and three-fold versions is the quad-fold half design. The extra fold lets it collapse to roughly 18 inches for trunk storage, and the additional half section placed on the vehicle side extends the platform where the load is heaviest, making the whole approach more stable on the way in and out. A carry handle is built in, and the full unit wipes clean. Available in 63 and 71 inch lengths with 17 or 20 inch widths, it accommodates everything from a lean working breed to a heavy-set senior.

Terrain is not an obstacle. It serves arthritic seniors climbing into an SUV for a vet visit, working dogs loading into a truck bed after a day in the field, and heavy-set breeds whose owners can no longer lift them safely. Because the quad-fold collapses to around 18 inches, it lives permanently in the boot of a hatchback or saloon without displacing the shopping, and the weight of roughly 15 lbs means it can be positioned with one hand while the other holds the leash.
