Description

The Car Is a Place They Love. The Boot Lip Is Where It Hurts. A large dog will follow you anywhere until the day the jump up becomes something their joints will not forgive, and that day arrives quietly. The Trailbridge is the answer that keeps the trips going without the pain.

Every ramp claim to be anti-slip until the first wet morning. This one is built around a textured groove pattern that grips whether the surface is dry, damp, or mud-slicked, backed by widened side rails that stop a nervous animal from drifting off the edge. The texture is part of the extrusion, not a stuck-on strip that peels away after a season, which is exactly where cheaper ramps fail.

The frame is high-grade aluminium - chosen for the reason it is chosen in aircraft and bicycles: it holds load without holding much weight. It supports up to 250 lbs, which covers every large breed and, usefully, the owner who occasionally needs to move something heavier themselves. The four-fold, half-width design is what makes it genuinely portable: it reduces to a fraction of its extended length, so it lives behind a seat rather than in the way.

Sizes run from 63 to 71 inches long and 17 to 20 inches wide, so you match the ramp to the vehicle and the animal rather than compromising on both. The result is a cooperative dog, an unhurt back, and a car trip that stays a pleasure.

Their loyalty never aged. Their joints did.

Where It Belongs

For owners of large, senior, or post-surgery dogs who still want them in the car; for anyone whose vehicle sits too high for a comfortable jump; and for households that have been lifting a 40-kilogram animal in and out by hand for too long. It suits SUVs, vans, estate cars, and the odd low tailgate alike, and it doubles as a gentle ramp for indoor steps where a dog has begun to hesitate. If the vet has mentioned joints, this is the purchase that makes the next twelve months easier on everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will it hold a really large dog?

Yes. The aluminium frame is rated to 250 lbs (about 113 kg), which comfortably covers every large breed, including senior dogs who need the gentlest possible transition into the car.

Q: Is the surface genuinely non-slip when wet?

The anti-slip texture is formed into the ramp itself rather than applied as a surface strip, so it continues to grip in damp, muddy, or wet conditions where stuck-on grips typically fail.

Q: How small does it fold?

It features a quad-fold, half-width design, so it collapses to a compact bundle that stores behind a seat or in the boot without dominating the space.

Q: Which size should I choose?

Match length to your vehicle's height and width to your dog's confidence. Longer ramps give a shallower incline, which is kinder on joints; wider ramps suit dogs who need more room to place their feet.

Q: Can I use it indoors as well as in the car?

Yes. It is equally useful as a ramp over indoor steps or a raised doorway, which is often the first place an aging dog starts to struggle.

Q: Is it heavy to move around?

No. Aluminium was chosen specifically to keep the weight down without sacrificing strength, so it can be positioned one-handed at the car before a trip.

Q: Does it suit any vehicle?

It works with SUVs, vans, estate cars, and standard tailgates. The four available sizes let you match the incline and width to your particular vehicle and animal.

Q: How do I get my dog used to it?

Place it against the boot with the textured surface uppermost, lead the dog up with a treat a few times while it is stationary, then introduce the movement. The anti-slip groove and widened rails do most of the reassurance for you.

Great ramp, measure your boot first

Does exactly what it should and the quad-fold design is what sold me over the cheaper two-fold ramps. Just be sure to measure your tailgate height before choosing the length, as the shorter size gives a steeper incline. Build quality is solid.

Genuinely light but genuinely strong

Aluminium frame is light enough to position one-handed at the car, yet it takes our 45kg shepherd without flexing. Folds small enough to live behind the seat. The textured surface grips even when the ramp is wet after a walk.

My labrador uses it without hesitation

Our 11-year-old lab had stopped getting into the boot and we were lifting him, which is back-breaking. The anti-slip grooves give him confidence and the side rails stop him drifting. He walks up now like it was always there. Should have bought this a year ago.
