You can add cabinets, add a pantry, add a second fridge in the garage. You cannot add another metre of worktop without moving a wall, which is why the useful question is not what to put on the counter but what to lift off it.

This rack answers that question with an iron frame that extends from 38.5 cm to 63 cm, so it spans the gap between a microwave and the wall, or sits over a printer on a desk, without needing to match a fixed width. The frame carries 25 kg while weighing 2.3 kg itself, which is the ratio that matters, since a shelf that sags under a microwave is worse than no shelf. Four removable hooks hang from the front rail for oven gloves, a ladle, or a hand towel, and they come off when you would rather have a clean line.

Assembly is a matter of extending the frame to the width you need and tightening.
