Description

A stone worktop is a decision about permanence, cost and weight, and most kitchens do not need all three. The Marble Veil answers the question underneath that decision: what if the surface simply needed to look right, resist water and stay clean, without a slab being cut and carried through a doorway.

This is a paper backed vinyl with a light reflecting surface treatment, 60 cm wide and self adhesive, so it goes onto an existing worktop, cabinet front, table or shelf without adhesive, primer or a contractor. The finish is a printed marble with enough tonal variation to read as stone under normal room lighting rather than as a flat print, and the 3D surface treatment means the veining responds differently depending on where the light falls.

Practicality is where it earns its place. The film resists water, mildew, moisture, heat and smoke, and the extra thick grade means it does not tear at the corner when you lift an edge to reposition it. It is formaldehyde free and CE certified, so it is reasonable for a kids room, a kitchen or a rented flat where the deposit depends on leaving the original surface intact.

Widths start at one metre for a single shelf and run to ten metres for a full kitchen refit. Six marble patterns are available so a counter and its backsplash can be matched or deliberately contrasted.

Stone has weight, cost and a delivery date. This has a backing paper and an afternoon.

Where It Belongs

Tenants use it to cover a worktop that was not chosen by anyone in the flat and take it off again at moving day. Café owners wrap a service counter that would cost four figures to replace in stone. Small businesses cover display plinths and shelving where a consistent marble finish photographs better than mixed laminate. DIY restorers use the thicker grade on kitchen islands because it holds a clean edge where thinner vinyl lifts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does it need any glue?

No. The backing peels away to reveal an adhesive layer. Clean and dry the surface first, then press the film down and work out air bubbles from the centre outward.

Q: Can it go near a hob or a hot pan?

It is heat insulated and suit to use around a kitchen, but do not place hot pans directly on it and keep a gap around open flame or an uncovered burner.

Q: How much do I need for a worktop?

Measure the length and depth, multiply, and add 5 to 10 percent for trimming and pattern alignment. A standard 3 m worktop at 60 cm depth uses roughly 2 square metres, so a 5 m roll covers two runs.

Q: Can it be removed without damaging the surface?

Yes. Peel it back slowly from a corner and warm the film slightly with a hairdryer to loosen the adhesive. It is the standard choice for rented property for this reason.

Q: Will the joins be visible?

Overlap joins by about 1 cm and press them firmly. Pattern matching between rolls is approximate, so where two sheets meet try to align along a vein.

Q: Which pattern looks most like real marble?

Patterns B and D carry the strongest veining. 16A through 20A are quieter and work better where you want a surface to stay in the background.

Used it on a workbench too

Bought a second roll for the garage bench. Adhesive sticks to bare board and the surface cleans with a damp cloth.

Held up behind the hob

The heat resistance claim is honest. Splatter wipes off and there is no discolouration near the cooking surface.

Great finish, measure carefully

Take your time on the corners and use a squeegee to push air out. My first strip had a bubble where I rushed. Once it is down the waterproofing is real, no lifting around the sink.

Rented kitchen, no landlord conversation

We covered a tired laminate counter in an afternoon. The marble grey reads as stone from a metre away and the surface has survived two months of cooking splashes.
